Pre-Op Instructions

• Stop taking all aspirin and aspirin containing medicines two weeks before surgery. If you are not sure if a medicine contains aspirin, check the label, ask your pharmacist, or ask your physician at Rodeo Drive Plastic Surgery.


• Stop taking all herbal medicines or holistic health drugs two weeks before surgery.


• Do not eat or drink anything for eight hours before your procedure.


• You should take your regular medicines on the morning of surgery with a small sip of water.


• Do not wear any jewelry or makeup on the day of surgery. Dress in loose clothes.


• You must have a responsible adult pick you up and stay with you for the first 24 hours. You will not be allowed to take a taxi alone. Please have the person picking you up call the office about 45 minutes before the designated pick-up time to verify that you will be ready.


• Do not wear make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish, or artificial nails on the day of surgery.


• Please leave all valuables at home.


• Please bring your prescribed medications with you on the day of surgery.


• You may need to have a pre-operative history and physical by your personal physician prior to surgery. In addition, you may need to have lab work done about two weeks prior to surgery (NO EARLIER). If the doctor feels you need these lab tests or evaluations, we will give you the correct forms to order them from any clinical lab or your doctor. We also have a laboratory we work with right in our building.


• You can call at any time before or after surgery to ask your surgeon or nurse any questions you may have.
